However, I am also a black man who has officially grown fatigued with the overtly salacious, denigrating and intellectually vapid depiction of people of color that I consistently see in Global Mass Media (especially the Americanvariation, thereof).
In short, I have been working on a project to parley my over 25 years of experience in film-making, story-telling, graphic design and real-world marketing designed to stifle the tide of noxious and unimaginative realizations of people of color in mass media. My own work encompassing computer animation and cinematic story-telling is a concept that I call “Pilots of The Caribbean”.
The idea revolves around superheroines of color–each with positive attributes, fully-realized story-lines and intriguing subtexts of historical importance infused into every character’s fight for justice, humanity and respect— who each hail from one Island in the Caribbean.
The first four characters of “Pilots” are depicted in the photo at the top of this page: they are (from top, Left to right) General Jamaica –
and The Haitian RefuGENE…
…along with La Cuidado De Cuba…
…The Puerto Rican Primera –aka The Lightning-Limbed Latina!…
…as well as The Dominican Republic Defender …
At any rate, these powerful women will be presented with dignity, class, distinction…and above all, more action and intelligent adventure than you can shake a stick at.
However, I only require a more in-depth computer that will allow me to actually execute the animation for the film series that I am planning, that will do people of color and the innovative stories I plan on telling about themjustice.
