Baltimore City’s Dunbar High School Wrestling Team is winning on and off the mat. Coach Douglas McClain, Jr. teaches them how to win games and how to win at life. Players say he pushes the team to be its best, and challenges them to their personal limits. They say these life lessons have inspired them toward manhood, and greatness.
Team members call McClain a good man, hardworking, and helpful, having offered many at-risk boys a safe alternative to life inside Baltimore’s streets. One player says the coach introduced him to wrestling when he was as young as 7 years old. Others say they’ve learned team work, discipline, a positive attitude, and how to get along from being in his wrestling program.
McClain says the boys bring talent from all over the country, and sometimes the challenges of adolescence come with them. He says he wants to show the team members how to be successful all around. And that commitment, sacrifice, accountability, goals, and planning are the habits of an all-American student athlete.
Please support the Dunbar High School Wrestling team. Your donations will be used for new mats and equipment, wrestling gear, and wrestling hygiene products for players.
